At the ICSTI General Assembly held in October 2012 in Washington, it was decided that the Information Policy Committee (IPC) would change its remit to become a strategic foresight committee to be titled the Information Trends and Opportunities Committee (ITOC).
The aims and scope for ITOC are as follows :
ICSTI’s Information Trends and Opportunities Committee (ITOC) is the catalyst for strategic thinking within ICSTI. It undertakes foresight/horizon scanning to identify forward issues of direct concern to the ICSTI membership. ITOC meetings will include member-only briefings and presentations by experts on subjects of immediate relevance to members that will complement the technology/innovation focus of TACC. ITOC will provide updates on current and potential partner activities and funded projects, as well as summary policy monitoring. As appropriate ITOC will commission white papers, and initiate best practice and benchmarking research.
The Information Trends and Opportunities Committee reports to the Executive Board.
