The Annual Members’ Meeting will be held immediately before the Workshop, on 3-4 March.

28 Oct 2011 - ICSTI’s Information Policy Committee (IPC) is changing. Now chaired by Jan Brase of the German National Library for Science and Technology, Committee members Roberta Shaffer (Library of Congress, USA), Eleanor Frierson (National Agricultural Library, USA) and Kirsi Tuominen (VTT, Finland) are now joined by Xiaodong Qiao (ISTIC, China). The IPC remains as an international forum that enables decision making on complex issues as well as creating collaborative relationships with peer organisations, and its remit and future focus will be reviewed at the Annual Members’ Meeting in Paris on 3-4 March 2012.
10 Oct 2011 - ICSTI’s 2012 Annual Members’ Meeting and Workshop will be held in Paris, France at the headquarters of ICSU (the International Council for Science) on 3-5 March. The Members’ Meeting will take place on 3-4 March followed by a One-Day Workshop titled ‘Delivering Data in Science’ . For a description of the Workshop click here to go to the Events page. ICSTI’s 2012 Annual Conference and General Assembly will be hosted by the Library of Congress in Washington, USA. The General Assembly business meetings will take place on 13-14 October and the Conference on the theme of ‘Science , Ethics and Law’ on 15-16 October.
ICSTI’s 2013 Annual Members’ Meeting will be held in Hannover, Germany in conjunction with a Workshop on ‘Non–Textual Information’ hosted by the German National library of Science and Technology on 16-19 March.
15 Sep 2011 - The Strategic Coordinating Committee on Information and Data (SCCID) was established by the International Council for Science (ICSU). As a member of that Committee, ICSTI is pleased to make available the SCCID Interim Report. Click here .
The Report contains 14 recommendations for the improvement of access and use of data for science. In order to start implementation of the Report recommendations, ICSTI has contributed to the 1st ICSU World Data System Conference : Global Data for Global Science on 3-6 September in Kyoto. In due course ICSTI will arrange a Workshop to progress all the data related initiatives in which ICSTI is involved (including SCCID), to which publishers, scientific unions, standards organisations, World Data Centres and partners DataCite and CODATA will be invited.
1 Aug 2011 - ICSTI’s Technical Activities Coordinating Committee is pleased to provide the final report for its Multimedia Search and Retrieval Project. Led by the US Department of Energy, in partnership with Microsoft and CERN, the project culminated with the release of ScienceCinema. Following this project and the last two ICSTI workshops focusing on multimedia, visualisation, and interactive publishing, ICSTI will continue exploration and collaboration among its members in these leading-edge tools and technologies for promoting scientific and technical communication.
ICSTI’s 2011 Annual Conference was held on 7-8 June in Beijing. Hosted by ISTIC, the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, the theme of the Conference was ’ Upgrading Information to Knowledge ’. The Conference was followed immediately by ICSTI’s General Assembly Meetings on 8-9 June.

7 Dec 2011 - ICSTI is pleased to announce that our organisation has officially been admitted as an observer to UNESCO. In this capacity, ICSTI’s Representative will attend the 7th Intergovernmental Council of the Information for All Programme on 2-3 April 2012 that will be held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
6 Oct 2011 - Jan Brase, ICSTI Vice President and Managing Agent of DataCite, received the 2011 German "Library Hi-Tech award". Jan was presented the prize during the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries 2011 on 26th September in Berlin. Read more...
9 Jun 2011 - At the General Assembly Meeting held in Beijing, Roberta Shaffer paid a tribute to Bernard Dumouchel on behalf of all his ICSTI colleagues as Bernard announced his resignation as Special Advisor to ICSTI, the position he has occupied since June 2007. On this occasion, Bernard was unanimously elected an ICSTI Honorary Member.
